Daniel Malual Juac is a public health professional with five years of experience in health and nutrition, managing humanitarian emergency and development programs. He pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health Science from Makerere University (2013 – 2016), one of Africa’s most prestigious and oldest universities. Before joining the Board of Trustees at Yo’ Care South Sudan, Daniel had initially worked for World Vision South Sudan. He later joined Nile Petroleum Corporation, the National Oil and Gas company of South Sudan, where he works as a Lubricant Officer.

At World Vision, Daniel worked in several positions. He served as a Nutrition Field Coordinator (2019 – 2021), Nutrition Assistant (2019), Community Mobilization Supervisor from 2017 to 2019, and Nutrition Field Coordinator (2017). With an immense passion for community transformation, Daniel founded Volunteer Africa Initiative, a youth-led organization to improve the Water and Sanitation situation in his hometown and headquarters of Twic County, Turalei, in 2021. This initiative has improved population health by organising weekly general cleaning sessions, cleaning of drains, door-to-door sensitization, radio talk shows, and advocacy for bylaws. Moreover, the youth volunteers were instrumental in repairing feeder roads and flood dikes, thus ensuring access to social services by the local population.

While at Makerere University School of Public Health, Daniel acquired vital experience that profoundly contributed to his professional development. He was sponsored by One Health Central and Eastern Africa (now AFROHUN (https://afrohun.org/)) to investigate the Rift Valley Fever Outbreak in Kabale District (Western Uganda) in 2016 with the Uganda Ministry of Health’s Rapid Response team. Moreover, Daniel implemented the Makerere University School of Public Health – Stanbic Bank Uganda WASH project in Kasubi Parish (Kampala) in 2015.

Daniel’s research interests include global health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, public health, climate change, Maternal and Child Health, and nutrition.
